LAGOS, NIGERIA -
The Votes Must Count International Initiative (VMCII) has congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the 2024 United States presidential election.
In a press release on the VMCII website, Founder and Country Director Dr. Barry Avotu Johnson applauded Trump's win, dispelling rumors that Nigerians are unhappy with the outcome.
According to Dr. Johnson, the VMCII seeks to debunk speculation surrounding Trump's administration and its alleged plans to institute a hardline border policy affecting Nigerian immigrants in the United States.
As a prominent civil rights organization, VMCII stood firm against the alleged rigging in Nigeria's 2023 presidential elections, where the Labour Party was reportedly denied power by the country's electoral commission and judiciary.
Notably, VMCII observed the recent U.S. elections across all states and is currently compiling its official report.
The findings will be presented at a press conference in mid-November.

Dr. Johnson emphasized the importance of Trump's administration focusing on Africa, with Nigeria at the forefront.
This call to action underscores the need for strengthened bilateral relations and cooperation between the United States and Africa's largest economy.
As Trump prepares to take office in 2025, following his previous term as the 45th President of the United States from 2017 to 2021, all eyes are on his administration's next moves.
